BUYER QUESTIONS
Frequently asked questions
Answers about bagasse and bamboo packaging, fluorine-free export options, composting, certificates and OEM/ODM sourcing.
72 questions
Why might a local composter refuse a certified compostable container?
Certification establishes conformity under the scheme’s conditions; it does not require every facility to accept the item. Processing methods, residence time, sorting and operating policies differ, and facilities may accept only specified products or no packaging. Confirm the actual collection route and facility acceptance before marketing disposal instructions. A certificate alone is not a reason to tell consumers to use any food-waste bin. Home composting also requires the product’s relevant instructions and managed conditions.
Is an FDA-related test report an FDA-issued container certificate?
They are not the same. A laboratory report against relevant US food-contact requirements describes results for a submitted sample under the stated conditions; it should not be presented as an FDA-issued certificate for the finished container. US food-contact review also concerns the applicable regulatory basis, authorizations and conditions of use for materials or substances. Check composition, sample identity, food type, temperature, duration and supporting basis. We provide our existing US food-contact testing documents with their actual scope.
Can a private-label brand print compostability logos on its packaging?
A supplier’s certificate does not automatically authorize your brand to use its certification mark. Confirm product and brand coverage, any licensing or sublicensing requirements, and artwork, mark-size and wording rules. BPI has mark-use and sublicensing arrangements; other schemes follow their issuers’ rules. Submit branding and artwork before printing or embossing so the holder and issuer can confirm permission. Changes to inks, colors, grammage or structure also require a coverage check.
Should EU buyers assess PPWR PFAS rules for fiber food packaging?
Yes. A plant-fiber substrate does not remove the need to assess substance restrictions for food-contact packaging. The general application date of the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, EU 2025/40, is 12 August 2026; it includes PFAS provisions for food-contact packaging. Specific obligations and transition dates require article-by-article review. We support fluorine-free export formulations, but food-contact reports, BPI or home-composting certificates do not automatically replace the evidence needed for PPWR. Define the applicable requirements, formulation, tests and records in the order.
How can buyers reduce differences between approved samples and bulk production?
Translate sample approval into measurable written specifications: model, dimensions and tolerances, weight, color, formulation requirements, lids, packing and critical performance-test conditions. Retain the approval sample and version. Agree on sampling, inspection stages, acceptance criteria and nonconformity handling before bulk production, with reapproval for relevant changes to formulation, tooling or packing. A sample photograph or a verbal promise of the same quality is not a complete acceptance basis.
Can Europe, the EU and the UK be treated as one regulatory market?
No. Europe is a geographical term, not the same as the EU, and the UK should not automatically be assumed to follow every current EU rule. Specify the actual country or territory of sale rather than Europe alone, and have the importer review food-contact, packaging, labeling and waste requirements. Existing EU-related reports may support document review, but their relevance to a destination must be confirmed. Do not assume identical arrangements across all parts of the UK.
Should I choose home or industrial compostability certification for Europe or the US?
Start with the intended disposal route and buyer’s specification. HOME is not simply a Europe certificate, and industrial compostability is not simply a US certificate. The schemes address different treatment conditions and do not replace destination rules or local-facility acceptance. We can provide our existing OK compost HOME or BPI commercial documents and check model, color, printing and grammage restrictions. If a buyer specifies another scheme, assess it separately rather than renaming an existing document as a certification we do not hold.
How can I verify a certificate’s authenticity, status and product scope?
Obtain the complete certificate and annex, check the issuer, holder, number, site, dates and product list, then verify through the issuer’s official register or direct contact. A logo, number or printed expiry date alone does not establish current status; suspension, withdrawal, revisions or added products may affect use. Request a mapping when catalog SKUs differ from annex references. BPI provides an official product catalog; verify other documents through their respective issuers.
How can a first-time buyer reduce supplier and payment-account risk?
Verify the business, contracting and receiving-account entities and their supply relationship, review samples and documents, then agree on payment milestones. Confirm account changes through a previously verified independent contact channel rather than relying on one email or chat screenshot. The order can define evidence needed at sample approval, tooling, production and shipment stages. Payment tools, percentages and security arrangements are negotiated; this is not a promise of risk-free trading or fixed credit terms.
How can buyers reduce moisture, odor, mold and crushing risks during ocean transport?
Fiber packaging needs suitable storage and transport protection. Agree on inner bags, carton strength, sealing, pallets, stacking and container-condition requirements, considering voyage duration and destination climate. If moisture-control measures are needed, specify materials, placement and checks. Request packing and loading records where agreed. Protective measures do not guarantee zero moisture exposure under every condition; investigate exceptions using batch information, arrival records, transport responsibilities and the contract.
Is testing under EU 10/2011 sufficient for molded-fiber packaging?
Do not treat a plastics measure as the sole basis for all molded-fiber food packaging. EU food-contact materials must meet the 1935/2004 framework and 2023/2006 good manufacturing practice, together with applicable material-specific and national requirements. EU 10/2011 primarily concerns plastic food-contact materials. Coatings, lids, inks and other components require assessment according to the finished construction. Provide the destination country and complete composition so testing and declarations can be matched; an EU label on a report is not enough.
Which documents should buyers review for the US versus the EU?
Review three separate areas: food contact, compostability claims, and packaging or market rules. US buyers commonly review applicable FDA-related food-contact documentation, the compostability evidence requested by the customer, and state-level substance and labeling requirements. EU buyers should review the food-contact framework, good manufacturing practice, material-specific and national requirements, plus compostability and packaging rules. We have BPI, OK compost HOME and US/EU food-contact documents available for model-specific review. No single certificate establishes complete access to both markets.
Does a fluorine-free formulation satisfy every US state’s PFAS requirements?
A fluorine-free description alone does not establish compliance across every US state. Procurement may involve federal food-contact rules, state-level substance restrictions and the buyer’s own specification, with different definitions, product scopes, testing and declaration requirements. We offer fluorine-free export formulations. Provide the states of sale, intended use and customer standard so no-intentional-addition requirements, targeted PFAS, total fluorine or other evidence can be assessed and the supply conditions agreed.
Does a BPI certification automatically mean home compostable?
Do not decide from the BPI name or logo alone. BPI now has commercial and separate home-compostability certification schemes; the home program launched in 2025. Check the scheme, mark and listed products. Our available BPI document concerns commercial compostability, while our home-composting documentation is OK compost HOME. The existence of BPI’s home program does not upgrade our commercial certificate or establish home certification for the whole catalog.
Are EN 13432, ASTM D6400 and ASTM D6868 certificates?
These are standards, not the names of certificates issued by certification bodies. EN 13432 addresses packaging recoverable through composting and biodegradation. BPI’s commercial program uses ASTM D6400 as its base, with D6868 or D8410 assessments available for eligible items. Review the certification scheme, certificate and listed products together. A report mentioning a standard does not by itself establish certification. The certification body should determine the assessment route for the product’s material and construction.
How can buyers reduce customs delays and inconsistent shipping documents?
Before shipment, coordinate with the customs broker to align the contract, invoice, packing list, transport documents and any other required papers. Check product descriptions, models, quantities, packing, weights, currency, trade terms and entity details. Classification, declared value, origin and destination requirements need confirmation by the importer and qualified broker; do not declare using an unverified generic online HS code. Supply clearance details in advance. No guarantee of inspection-free entry or tax exemption is made.
Who confirms destination labels, environmental marks and EPR responsibilities?
Before artwork approval, the brand, importer and local compliance adviser should identify the countries, sales channels and responsible roles, then confirm language, material or disposal labels, environmental claims and producer-responsibility registration or reporting requirements. Compostability marks, local recycling labels and EPR registration are different matters. A supplier certificate does not discharge an importer’s obligations. We can assess packing and printing against agreed requirements, without adding unauthorized marks or claiming universal country coverage.
What should buyers check when comparing FOB, CIF and DDP quotations?
First align the product set, quantity, currency and named port or place. A low unit price may exclude freight, insurance, destination charges, taxes or clearance services. Even for a DDP quotation, confirm who performs import clearance, pays duties and taxes, acts in the importer role and handles exceptional costs. Avoid vague tax-paid door-delivery descriptions in place of clear terms. Our quotation conditions are discussed for each order and defined by the agreed trade terms, cost breakdown and contract.
Can you provide food-contact documentation for the US, EU and China?
Yes. We have US FDA-related food-contact testing, EU food-contact testing, China GB testing and a food-contact declaration available for procurement review. Provide the model, color, food type, temperature, contact duration and destination so we can match the relevant reports and use conditions for supplier qualification. US FDA-related testing should be described according to the report, rather than as an FDA-issued product certification. Destination-specific import and labeling requirements are confirmed separately.
What is the difference between white and natural-color products?
White and natural-color products reflect appearance and material-processing choices. Color alone does not establish food-contact safety, formulation or compostability. Even when shapes look identical, check composition, weight, testing and certification coverage for the selected color. Tell us the model, color and destination so supply options and documentation can be reviewed. Bleaching status and processing details should be based on material and finished-product declarations, rather than claims that natural is always safer or white necessarily contains harmful substances.
How many pieces fit in a carton, 20GP or 40HQ container?
Packing and loading quantities are model-specific. Confirm pieces per bag, bags per carton, pieces per carton, carton dimensions, volume, gross and net weight, then build a loading plan from the cartons per SKU. Catalog 20GP or 40HQ figures are estimates, not loading guarantees. Mixed SKUs, pallets, carton tolerances and transport constraints affect the result. Confirm final packing and the loading list before booking transport; carton quantity is not the MOQ.
When was the factory established, and how is ZULIECO related to the manufacturer?
ZULIECO is the overseas brand of De’an Zhuli Intelligent Control Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd., with manufacturing in De’an, Jiangxi. The establishment date should be verified against company registration and production records; no unverified year is stated here. For supplier onboarding, request the business license, factory profile and relevant documents. Company incorporation, factory commissioning and brand launch are different milestones and should not be treated as the same date.
Can you customize logos, colors and retail or export packaging?
Submit requirements for embossed logos, printing, colors and retail or export packaging for model-specific feasibility review. Include artwork, logo position and dimensions, color references, inner packing, labels, barcodes, shipping marks and expected order quantity. Embossing and printing involve different processes and costs. Changes to colorants, inks or packaging may also affect food-contact or compostability documentation. Not every process is available for every model; confirm the agreed method before ordering.
Does water resistance mean a closed container will not leak during delivery?
No. Water resistance of the container body does not prove that a lid will prevent leakage during tilting, vibration or stacked delivery. Results also depend on lid compatibility, closure design, fill level, food temperature and handling. Evaluate the confirmed container-and-lid combination through filled holding, closure, tilt and simulated transport tests with agreed acceptance criteria. Leave appropriate headspace for liquids. Unless specifically validated, do not transport containers upside down or treat them as hermetically sealed packaging.
Can buyers arrange a factory visit, video tour or third-party audit?
You may request a factory visit, video tour or third-party audit for scheduling and scope review. Provide the auditor, checklist, proposed date, processes and documents to be reviewed, and any photography or sampling requirements. Arrangements depend on production scheduling and confidentiality obligations. Agree on inspection costs, access conditions and any corrective-action process in advance. Other customers’ drawings, orders and commercial information are outside the accessible scope.
Can orders mix SKUs or use LCL shipping and pallet packing?
Submit mixed-SKU, less-than-container-load or pallet-packing requirements for review against item quantities, carton volume, transport method and loading conditions. Individual models may still have separate MOQs, and mixed loading changes capacity and cost. Provide the SKU list, cartons per item, pallet requirements and destination port so inner packing, cartons, shipping marks, protection and loading can be agreed. Pallet dimensions, materials and destination requirements should be confirmed before shipment rather than inferred from full-container estimates.
What should I do if goods arrive damaged, short or nonconforming?
Keep cartons, labels and batch information, record affected quantities, and promptly provide arrival photographs, unpacking or counting records and the order reference for investigation. Transport damage, shortages and performance nonconformity require different assessments against the approval sample, specifications, inspection records, contract and transport responsibilities. Replacement, refund, rework, costs and claim deadlines should be agreed in the order. This answer does not promise unconditional compensation or a fixed resolution period.
Can I request samples before a bulk order, and how does approval work?
You can request samples before a bulk order, with models, quantities, charges and shipping arrangements confirmed separately. State the intended use, destination, recipient details and food or performance requirements to evaluate. Catalog samples, customized samples and new-tooling samples have different costs and schedules; free samples should not be assumed. Check dimensions, weight, lid fit, food holding and transport performance, then retain an agreed approval sample and specification version for bulk-order acceptance.
Can bagasse containers be used in an oven or air fryer?
Do not use an unverified model in an oven or air fryer. Suitability for serving hot food or microwave reheating does not establish resistance to radiant oven heat, high-temperature airflow or contact with heating elements. For a baking application, provide the equipment type, set temperature, duration, food and placement method so suitable packaging can be assessed against finished-product instructions and testing. Keep fiber packaging away from flames and heating elements; an informal household trial is not a substitute for proper validation.
Are your containers water and oil resistant, and what are the test conditions?
Water- and oil-resistant functional additives are used in our molded-fiber food-packaging production. Actual performance depends on the model, formulation, food temperature and contact duration. Confirm the test medium, temperature, duration, fill level and acceptance criteria, then trial the selected product with your own food. One sample result does not establish performance for the whole catalog or guarantee leak-free use under every condition. Oil resistance, PFAS-related testing and lid sealing are separate matters and should be evaluated independently.
Can I obtain PFAS, total-fluorine or organic-fluorine test reports?
We support fluorine-free formulations for export and can review the documentation and testing needed for your specification. Provide the SKU, color, printing requirements, destination, required analytes, method and limits so existing evidence can be matched. Where additional testing is needed, sampling, laboratory, cost and timing are agreed separately. PFAS, total-fluorine and organic-fluorine tests have different scopes; use reports that address the purchasing specification rather than substituting unrelated certificates.
How should quality checks, traceability and repeat orders be managed?
Base bulk-order acceptance on the approval sample and written specifications covering the model, material, color, dimensions, weight, lid fit, packing and required performance. Request confirmation of available batch identification, inspection records and pre-shipment checks during supplier qualification. Keep specification versions for repeat orders and agree on communication before changes to formulation, structure or packing. For third-party inspection, define sampling, acceptance criteria, costs and nonconformity handling in advance.
How is wholesale pricing calculated, and are volume quotations available?
You may request quotations for defined volume tiers, but no fixed discount is promised in advance. Cost depends on the model, weight, color, lids, packing, customization, quantity and trade terms. Compare offers on the same per-piece or per-set basis and identify whether lids, tooling, printing, freight and taxes are included. A lower unit price does not necessarily mean a lower landed cost. Share order quantities and your annual purchasing plan to review supply options.
Is ZULIECO a manufacturer or trading company, and where is the factory?
ZULIECO is the overseas brand of De’an Zhuli Intelligent Control Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd., a molded-fiber food-packaging manufacturer based in De’an, Jiangxi, China. Procurement discussions can cover catalog selection, sample evaluation and OEM or ODM projects. For supplier qualification, request confirmation of the manufacturing entity, factory address and supporting documents. The contracting, payment and exporting entities should be identified in the order documents; a brand name does not replace a legal company name.
What do BPI and OK compost HOME demonstrate?
We hold BPI commercial compostability and OK compost HOME certifications and can match products within their respective scopes to your disposal requirements. BPI concerns commercial composting, while OK compost HOME concerns home composting under different conditions. Product selection includes checking the model, color, printing and grammage restrictions in the certificate annexes. Disposal should follow local acceptance rules. Compostability certification is separate from food-contact testing and evidence for degradation in ordinary soil or marine environments.
Can you customize dimensions, capacity, compartments and shape?
You can submit dimension, capacity, compartment and shape requirements for molding and tooling feasibility review. Provide drawings or reference samples, the intended food, target weight, lid arrangement and estimated quantity. Adapting an existing tool and developing new tooling have different costs and schedules. Forming, stacking, closure, packing and transport requirements should be reviewed before approval. Production should follow the agreed drawings, approval samples and written specifications.
How does home composting differ from industrial composting?
Industrial composting uses managed facilities with controlled temperature, moisture, aeration and processing cycles. Home-composting conditions are generally more variable, and the verification requirements differ. Qualification under one scheme does not automatically establish qualification under the other. Check the finished product’s certification, model coverage, thickness or grammage, color and printing restrictions, and confirm local acceptance. Compostability certification does not mean packaging should be discarded in the natural environment.
What certifications, test reports and audit documents are available?
We hold BPI commercial compostability, OK compost HOME, BRCGS Packaging Materials, and ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications. We also provide US FDA-related food-contact testing, EU food-contact testing, China GB testing, a food-contact declaration, amfori BSCI social-audit documentation and a China industrial production license. Request the relevant documents before ordering so we can match them to your model, intended use and destination. Specific coverage is defined by each document and its annexes.
How can I obtain a product catalog, specification sheet and lid list?
Request a catalog through the website contact channel and identify the product ranges or models of interest. For shortlisted items, obtain the SKU, product name, color, weight, dimensions, capacity, bag and carton quantities, carton dimensions, gross and net weights, and matching lid reference. Any missing parameter should be confirmed separately. Retain the agreed specification version and approval sample for quotation and inspection, rather than mixing document versions or container and lid specifications.
How does bagasse packaging differ from paperboard and cornstarch tableware?
Bagasse is a fiber source, while paperboard is a material form; they are not mutually exclusive because bagasse fibers can also be used in papermaking. Molded fiber and folded paperboard differ in forming, structure and barrier treatments. Cornstarch tableware describes a feedstock, not a complete formulation, and may contain other polymers. Obtain finished-product composition information and compare structure, temperature limits, barrier performance, cost and disposal options rather than assuming plastic-free composition or compostability from the name.
Are the containers suitable for hot and oily food, and what is the temperature range?
Suitability for hot or oily food depends on the exact model, food type, temperature, contact time and fill level; no universal temperature range is stated for the catalog. Temperature conditions in a company food-contact declaration must be matched to the product and do not establish oven or microwave suitability. Share the intended food and delivery process so material information, relevant testing and practical sample trials can be reviewed together. Lids need a separate assessment.
How should the products be stored, and what is their shelf life?
Keep the original packaging intact in a clean, dry, ventilated environment protected from contamination, moisture, direct sunlight, unsuitable heat and excessive compression. Confirm storage temperature, humidity, stacking limits and shelf life for the exact model and packaging; one storage period should not be promised for all fiber products. For long-term stock, share warehouse conditions and expected turnover so packaging protection, batch identification and first-in-first-out handling can be agreed before purchase.
Are your products BPA-free?
A BPA-free claim should be assessed from the exact model’s materials, additives, coatings, printing and finished-product evidence, not from plant-fiber origin alone. State the destination, required analytes and limits so the sample, method and results can be reviewed. BPA and PFAS are different substance groups; evidence for one does not automatically establish the other. Without the required documentation, no absolute BPA-free claim is made for the whole catalog.
Do you offer OEM and ODM, and what is the difference?
We support OEM manufacturing and ODM development for molded-fiber food packaging. OEM starts from your drawings, reference sample or approved specification and focuses on tooling, process feasibility and repeat production. ODM starts from food use, capacity, structure and cost targets, followed by collaborative design, tooling development and sample approval. Both require agreed specifications, materials, evidence, MOQ, costs and lead time. Changes to structure or printing may also require a review of compliance coverage.
Can the containers and lids be used in a microwave?
Microwave suitability must be confirmed for the exact model and operating conditions; a bagasse description or hot-water test alone is insufficient. Share the food type, microwave power, heating time, fill level and whether a lid will be used so the relevant instructions or test evidence can be reviewed. Containers and lids may use different materials and require separate confirmation. Do not microwave an unverified model. For approved applications, follow the instructions, avoid heating empty packaging and take care with hot food and steam.
Can you supply containers for a fluorine-free or PFAS-related specification?
Yes. ZULIECO offers fluorine-free formulations for export orders of molded-fiber food packaging. Specify the fluorine-free requirement, product model, intended use and destination when requesting a quotation so we can confirm the formulation, samples and supporting documentation. If your specification requires particular PFAS, total-fluorine or organic-fluorine tests and limits, include them so suitable finished-product reports or testing can be arranged. Agree on supply specifications and testing requirements in the order, with containers and lids assessed separately.
Can I test the packaging with my own food products?
Yes, testing with your actual food is recommended. Moisture, oil, acidity, temperature and delivery conditions affect performance, and one laboratory condition does not represent every application. During sampling, assess filling, holding, closure, stacking, transport and any required refrigeration or reheating. Record the model, food, temperatures, duration and results. Practical trials help select packaging but do not replace applicable food-contact testing or certification. Agree on acceptance conditions before bulk production.
What are the minimum order quantities for standard and customized products?
MOQ depends on the model, color, packing, stock or production schedule, and customization scope. There is no single minimum for the entire range. Existing-tooling products, new-tooling developments and customized packaging can have different requirements. Send the model and quantity per item, lid needs, customization details and destination so a feasible order can be reviewed. Pieces per bag or carton in the catalog describe packing quantities, not the MOQ.
Are lids included, and how do I confirm the correct lid?
Lid inclusion depends on the supply combination stated in the quotation; it should not be assumed. Separate lids, inserts and containers may have different SKUs, materials and packing quantities. Provide both model references so compatibility can be checked, then evaluate physical samples for closure, stacking and transport with your food. Similar appearance or rim dimensions do not establish a match. Temperature limits, food-contact documentation and compostability evidence for the lid also need separate confirmation.
What is your sugarcane bagasse and bamboo fiber blend?
Our stated food-packaging fiber blend is 80% sugarcane bagasse fiber and 20% bamboo fiber. These percentages describe the fiber portion, not every ingredient in the finished product; water- and oil-resistant functional additives are also used. The blend supports molding and product-performance requirements, but actual strength and use performance must be verified on the finished item. Confirm the material specification for your SKU rather than applying this ratio to holders, accessories or slippers made from different materials.
What is the difference between biodegradable, compostable and recyclable?
These terms are not interchangeable. Biodegradable describes biological breakdown in a specified environment and timeframe. Compostable also concerns requirements such as breakdown and compost quality under defined conditions. Recyclable depends on local collection, sorting and processing systems. Plant-based origin does not automatically establish any of these outcomes. Check finished-product evidence, applicable conditions and local acceptance before making a claim or choosing a disposal route.
What sizes, capacities, compartments and colors are available?
Our catalog offers plates, clamshells, compartment containers, bowls and trays in different sizes and layouts, with white or natural options on selected models. Share your food type, portion size, service format and lid requirements so suitable models can be shortlisted. Similar capacities do not mean identical dimensions or compartments, and nominal capacity is not a recommended fill level. Confirm the model, measurements, weight, capacity, color and physical sample before ordering. New structures or special colors require a separate feasibility review.
How should used bagasse containers be disposed of?
Follow the product instructions and local waste rules. Use a composting collection route only when the finished product meets the relevant requirements and the local operator explicitly accepts it. A compostable label does not mean every food-waste or garden-waste bin accepts packaging. Paper-recycling acceptance also depends on food contamination, coatings and local processing. If no suitable route is available, follow the local authority’s disposal instructions rather than littering or burning the item.
How are lead time, payment terms, Incoterms and shipping port confirmed?
Confirm these conditions in the quotation and order rather than assuming a fixed lead time or payment policy. Scheduling depends on the model, quantity, tooling, sample approval, packing and material preparation; arrival also depends on transport and customs clearance. A source catalog lists FOB Jiujiang, but this does not establish one port or term for every order. Provide the destination and required arrival date, then agree on the production start conditions, shipment milestones, named port or place, costs and risk allocation.
What do BRCGS, ISO management systems and BSCI audits mean?
BRCGS Packaging Materials concerns site and packaging-manufacturing management. ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 concern quality, environmental, and occupational health and safety management systems respectively. Amfori BSCI provides social-audit information. These do not directly establish that a container is PFAS-free, compostable or suitable for every food. Review the issuer, entity, site, scope, version and dates, and assess finished-product food-contact and performance evidence separately.
How do I choose packaging for takeaway, catering, salads or soup?
Choose packaging around the food and delivery process, rather than capacity alone. Compartment containers are candidates for separated meals, plates and trays for meal service, and bowls with matching lids for soups. Final suitability requires a practical filling trial. Share serving temperature, oil or liquid content, portion size, holding time, transport conditions and stacking method. We can then help shortlist sizes and structures and review barrier performance, closure fit and load requirements.
What is a bagasse food container, and how is it made?
A bagasse food container is molded-fiber packaging made using fibers remaining after sugarcane juice extraction. Pulp preparation, blending, molding and finishing turn the material into shapes such as clamshells, compartment containers, bowls and trays. Finished-product performance also depends on the fiber blend, additives, structure and processing conditions. Check the exact model’s composition, specifications and tests; the term bagasse alone does not establish plastic-free composition, home compostability or suitability at every temperature.
How do bagasse containers compare with PP, PET and PLA containers?
Compare materials against the application rather than declaring one universally better. Bagasse containers are molded-fiber packaging; PP, PET and PLA are different plastics with different temperature, transparency, structural and disposal characteristics. Plant-derived PLA is still a plastic. Evaluate food temperature, presentation, lid fit, leakage, transport, cost and local recycling or composting routes. Microwave, freezer and compostability suitability must be supported for the finished product, not inferred from the material name.
How can I get a quotation, and what information should I provide?
Send the model or reference image, color, quantity per item, lid needs, customization, packing requirements, destination and required arrival date through the website contact channel. Include drawings, food-use conditions or certification requirements where relevant. The quotation should specify currency, price per piece or carton, lid inclusion, trade terms, validity and cost inclusions such as freight. If details are incomplete, start with product selection; a blank catalog price is not a zero price.
Can the containers be refrigerated, frozen and reheated after thawing?
Refrigeration, freezing and reheating require confirmation for the container, lid and intended food together. Refrigeration suitability does not automatically establish freezer or freeze-thaw suitability; temperature and moisture can affect structure, lid fit and load performance. Share the minimum temperature, storage duration, food type, filling process and thawing or reheating procedure for sample evaluation. Without model-specific evidence, we do not state one freezing limit or storage period for the entire range or apply room-temperature results to freeze-thaw use.
Do you have tooling-development capability and existing molds to choose from?
Our tooling capability supports structure discussions, mold development, sample evaluation and repeat production for molded-fiber packaging. The company reports more than 200 tooling sets. Existing specifications can be reviewed against your food use, dimensions and compartment needs before considering new development. Availability still depends on specifications, tooling condition, scheduling and any customer-specific rights. An existing tool is not automatically available for unrestricted use by every buyer.
Can customization require new testing or certification review?
Yes, customization can require a fresh review. Changes to formulation, additives, color, printing, thickness, structure or lids may fall outside the tested sample or certificate scope. Include the destination and intended claims at project kickoff, then assess whether additional testing, revised documents or issuer confirmation is needed. Do not apply standard-model reports to all customized items or print certification marks before confirming authorization. Include any additional costs and timing in the project plan.
How long do the containers take to degrade in soil, seawater or landfill?
We do not promise a universal number of days for complete degradation in soil, seawater or landfill. Compostability evidence applies to specified conditions and cannot simply be extended to other environments. Temperature, moisture, microorganisms, oxygen and product structure affect breakdown. Any environmental claim needs evidence for the finished model, environment and method concerned. Time-lapse or degradation animations are conceptual illustrations, not measured timelines. Dispose of used packaging through an accepted local route.
How should I select product weight, strength and stacking performance?
Thickness alone does not determine performance. Product weight, ribs, dimensions, food load, moisture and stacking method all affect strength and deformation. Provide the food weight per pack, intended stack height, holding time and transport conditions so candidate samples can be compared. Nesting empty containers and stacking filled meals are different evaluations. Check compression, closure fit, ease of separation and deformation separately, and agree on transport acceptance requirements before ordering.
What food-packaging products does ZULIECO manufacture?
ZULIECO’s food-packaging range includes bagasse plates, clamshell takeaway boxes, takeaway and compartment containers, soup bowls and accessories, trays, cups, lids and holders. We support product selection and customization for foodservice buyers, wholesalers, distributors and brands. Materials and accessories can differ between ranges, so check the exact model for dimensions, capacity, color, packing and intended use. Slippers are a separate catalog range; food-packaging composition and food-contact statements must not be applied to them.
Are your containers plastic-free, and do they contain coatings or additives?
Plant-derived fibers alone do not establish that a finished product is plastic-free. ZULIECO’s food-packaging fiber portion uses bagasse and bamboo, with water- and oil-resistant functional additives. The presence or absence of plastic coatings, binders or other polymers must be assessed from the exact formulation and finished-product documentation. For a plastic-free specification, identify the definition, destination market and evidence required, then review the container, lid, printing and accessories together before confirming the claim.
What compliance, labeling and import documents should buyers prepare?
Identify the destination country, product models, food use, quantities and required arrival date, then review specifications, samples, materials and available testing documents with us. The importer or customs broker should confirm current food-contact, labeling, tariff classification, duties and packaging-waste requirements at destination. Invoices, packing lists, transport documents and any origin or other certificates should be agreed for the order and market. A certificate portfolio is not an import permit or automatic market access everywhere.
What are your current and planned Phase II production capacities?
According to the company’s current information, existing annual production capacity is 80,000 metric tons. Total annual capacity is expected to reach 300,000 metric tons after Phase II commissioning. The 300,000 figure is planned total capacity, not current supply capacity, and must not be added to the existing figure as current output. Order timing still depends on the model, tooling, quantity, packing and production schedule. Annual capacity is not immediate stock availability or a shipment commitment.
How do no intentionally added PFAS, not detected and PFAS-free differ?
No intentionally added PFAS describes formulation and supply-chain practices. Not detected is a result for a particular sample, analyte scope, method and reporting limit. A PFAS-free claim needs a defined scope and evidence; it should not automatically be interpreted as absolute zero for every PFAS. Total fluorine, organic fluorine and targeted PFAS testing also answer different questions. Establish the destination and buyer’s specification first, then determine suitable evidence and claim wording.
Can I place a trial order before committing to larger volumes?
You can request a trial order for review against model, quantity, stock or scheduling and packing requirements; acceptance of any quantity is not guaranteed. Identify catalog models, quantities per item, lids, destination and intended use, preferably starting with existing packing options. Trial-order pricing, minimum quantities and freight costs may differ from later bulk orders. After sample and food-use evaluation, agree on trial acceptance, repeat-order specifications and the plan for scaling volume.
How are mold cost, development time, ownership and exclusivity agreed?
Tooling cost, development time, ownership and exclusivity are agreed project by project. Free tooling or automatic transfer of all rights should not be assumed. Define the structure, material, volume, trial scope and acceptance criteria before quotation. The agreement should cover fees, milestones, revisions, ownership, storage, maintenance, usage rights, exclusivity and end-of-project arrangements. Finalize production specifications after sample approval and confirm permission to use any patented design or third-party drawings.
How can I check whether certification covers my exact SKU and lid?
Coverage must be checked individually; a factory-held certificate does not automatically cover every product or accessory. Provide the container and lid SKUs, color, weight or thickness, printing and customization details so the holder, product list, materials and restrictions can be matched. Compostability certification, food-contact testing and factory-system certification demonstrate different things. In particular, confirm how catalog SKUs map to certificate annex references before claiming coverage.
